You know, one of the things that initially attracted both me and Melly to Barajou were its S&M/Bondage parodying undertones, something we’ve both been missing in recent issues quite a bit. Until now. Normally I’d say this is where volume 7 ends– and it does, for story purposes– but there’s such a HUGE gap in tone between this chapter and the side story that comes next that I figured it’d be best to release it sometime later, instead. That, and I like making you guys SQUIIIIRM, which I can guarantee is what you’ll be doing after hitting the last page of this chapter.

    And SUCH potential. But you just know something’s going to screw it up. He seems the most likely for being the end choice/cannon (being the only normal one and the forward fighter … if we’re basing this on pretty much everything else I’ve ever read ever, plus there’s no justice for me since that stupid blond jerk won out over Mori and Kyouya in Ouran that I don’t want it happening here as well…uh spoiler?) that there’s almost no way it wouldn’t.

    Still OMG looking forward to the next one!!!

    It perplexes me that Anis somehow caught up to Kaede, in the midst of fighting, with a blade to his throat, and manages to pull him close enough for a potential kiss. How is that even possible???

    It’s kind of a long story, but MF was bought out, and management basically stated they were going to do whatever the fark they wanted whether scanlators liked it or not, and whether publishers liked it or not, so they went through and re/uploaded every series that they agreed not to post because the series had been licensed or they agreed not to upload them, whatever. It would have been one thing if it ended there, but MF is a trendsetter, and their great, big “Fark you” to publishers/scanlators alike set off a domino effect where, in the past, literally one nastier reader (EatManga, I think? I can’t remember) would publish without regard, now the newer, popular series like Barajou are on all major readers within about an hour of posting, regardless of wait periods, in their own efforts to compete with MF. Frankly, it damages the industry to host them all like that. Anyway, I digress.

    My beef is that after that happened, I got in touch with management and they assured not only me, but every other group who went to them requesting a wait period, it seems, that requests for delay would be respected. We took this as truth because after the shift, only the management had privileges to approve/remove uploads, and so they would have tighter control over the moderation process. Turns out they were talking out of their asses, because they went back on their word immediately, which is what happened with this ch of Barajou. Not only was the wait period not honored, it was on their servers within half an hour of posting here.

    To make a long story short, they uploaded a half-downloaded version of the newest chapter. I don’t know I’d they’re just blind idiots or what, but they approved a clearly bogus version 2 I submitted right away which included nothing but a screen cap of the exchange I had with management and their pledge to honor our wait period.

    And that is how Turtle Paradise trolled MangaFox.

    Another reason not to support them in any way, shape, or form is because they profit hundreds, if not thousands a day from ad revenue gained from other peoples’ hard work. Really, they’re only a step below Tazmo in my book.

    S&M stands for sadism and masochism. It’s the interplay between a person who derives pleasure from inflicting pain (s), and the one recieving it (m). It doesn’t necessarily have to be sexual in nature, either. Anyway, you see the themes running through the series– Anis’ title as Domina is the title given a female dominatrix, for instance. (A Dominatrix is the lady who takes the dominating, or “S” role in S&M encounters. It’s less common to see the practice with men, but in the case one takes the dominant role, he’d be called the Dominator. )

    So when Anis throws around the term in-series, she’s calling them either masochists (Mutsuki as the end of ch. 3) or sadists (Tenjoh when healing.) Hope that clarified things for you.

    I had no idea any of the MF stuff was happening. I’ve never read anything off of there before (THANK HEAVENS!
