Okay! GIANT WARNING TEXT OUT OF THE WAY, welcome to release day! We’ve got two new chapters of this and that for you to enjoy today, plus an announcement of a new (and probably unexpected, considering how much we’ve ragged on it lately) project we’ll be starting soon, so open those peepers and start paying attention, ’cause we’ve got a lot of ground to cover.

First off, following up last week’s announcement that we’d be putting a little more emphasis on catching up with the series, a new chapter of Barajou no Kiss! Anis only continues to demonstrate how much of a loveable idiot she is, with a dash of gar here and there. Plus, dare I say it… Character development for one of the Knights!? (Well, it’s leading into it.) This chapter was brought to you by the strong-yet-yielding editing fingers of c0de_da1sy, typeset and translamacated by yours truly, and scanned and QC’d by everyone’s favorite banhammer-wielding megalomaniac, Melfra.

Second-up, we (FINALLY, OH GOD) have a new chapter of Wild Arms: Flower Thieves! Looking back on it, I guess we haven’t released a new chapter since late January… Ugghhhh, WHY HAVEN’T YOU PEOPLE BEEN PUTTING MORE PRESSURE ON US FOR THIS? D= I had no idea! Well, moving on, in this chapter Maxi and Guy’s fantastic adventures across Filgaia(TM) continue, and Maxi bitches and moans his way into one heaping mess of trouble after another. Well, maybe not quite, but ’tweren’t bad for a spur-of-the-moment tagline, was it? Editing brought to you in part by Shinigami (from creation to expiration, DEATH IS ALWAYS WATCHING), with typesetting miracles wrought by Zippy’s magical keystrokes, and now you see it–now you don’t! Effective with the next issue of Aria magazine, we’ll be picking up Junketsu+Kareshi. Yeah, you heard me. The fine folks at Omari’s Sister approached us a couple of days ago asking if we’d take over the series once they formally dropped it, and Melly and I, being the complete and utter Shouoto whores that we are, figured, hell, why not– even if we didn’t like it, that’s some SEXY AS HELL art. Now, now; I hear some of you in the dark recesses of the interbutts whining, “Aw, dammit, now that Turtle Paradise has it, we’ll have to wait MONTHS before they get caught up!” FEAR NOT, LURKERS! Aria Magazine has such kick-ass quality that we’ll be working from the magazine instead of the volume releases, starting with chapter 10 and releasing once a month right on schedule with the Japanese releases. It’s been a while since we at TP did anything like that, so personally, I’m looking forward to that “real-time” feel.

No, seriously, I’ve eaten so much turkey and visited with so many relatives over the last week I’m either going to go narcoleptic or explode. Or both. Not sure at this point. WE CAN ONLY WAIT!

As for releases this week, we were pretty much inches away from at least three things (I think?) that people have been asking about for a while, so hopefully next week will have better results. In the mean time… happy holidays and enjoy your aviator turkeys!

So we’ve been having issues with the Monday, probably because of Reb’s stupid computer. Or lack thereof. Whatever. Anyway, used to be that the weekends were awesome for getting stuff ready for release day, but now that Reb’s only day to get serious work done is Monday (which is kind of obvious considering the pandemic of Tuesday releases), we’re going to switch things up again. Tuesday is now release day!

Come on, you know Tuesdays are awesome anyway. In a meh sort of way. /cough

Listen, I’m not bitter that Final Fantasy is more popular than Wild Arms, okay? I’m not- oh who am I kidding, I’m totally bitter. Stupid Final Fantasy

Er, anyway. Today we have a release nearly half of the staffers have had some part in it. Honorable mentions go to Maru, Shirozaki, Shin, Reb, Zippy, and probably some other people I’m forgetting because lawdy did this one take forever. I know the 1st chapter is listed as three parts, but the breaks are so weird we crammed them together for a 60-ish page release. Birdcage complex, I guess. TAKE THAT! Also, the best part about Flower Thieves is that, despite the title, the only relation to the games is purely thematic, so anyone looking for some good action or western goodness can jump right in. I suggest giving it a shot for the fabulous art alone!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be in the corner shrieking like a fangirl because OH GOD I HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS DAY

And for the question that I’m sure only a couple of people are wondering about and no one cares enough to ask… yeah, I know we said Fridays were new release dates, but after talking it over with Reb, we realized that, hey, a bunch of our staffers can only work weekends. What’s the point in doing a release when they’re going to be finishing stuff up the day after? So yeah. Monday it is!

Also, for those wondering about resizing 2 page spreads in the reader… I have an idea on how to do it, but I’m not sure how to trigger the larger image. Any ideas?

Today, I bring you not one, but TWO pieces of awesome! Ranked in order of how awesome I think they are. Or not. YOU’LL NEVER KNOW!

First of all, we bring you the special chapter of Barajou no Kiss, entitled “24 Hours with the Roses” or something like that. It hasn’t been published in any volumes, and it might not be, since it was an Asuka special chapter. That’s still great though, right? Right. It’s worth giggles at least!

Second! (and maybe the most awesome but that’s for you to decide!) I’ve spent the last week whipping up an online reader for the site, so now you can read our releases… online! It’s designed in the same style as the forum, so don’t worry if the page looks quite a bit different from the main. Chapters 1 and 2 of Barajou (and the first three volumes of Evangelion Datenroku) aren’t online currently because they’re all pending re-release.. more info on that later! For now, consider the reader in beta, and if you find any problems at all, please say so in this post so I can fix ‘em!

Yup, we’re now part of the J-list affiliate program, so banners have, like, taken over the website or something. These guys stock some pretty hilarious stuff, so you guys should get a kick out of it, too! (right?) Also, Reb just started yelling at me about not doing a status update (BAAAAAW), so here it is. We’re gonna have a ton of stuff ready, and it’s gonna be ready fast. We got a ton of new, awesome staffers from that last post, and everyone’s finishing their projects all at once, lawl.

If you’ve got the motivation and most importantly the time to spare, all you have to do is register for an account at the forums, make five posts, and then you’ll have access to the tests. The difficulty level is pretty high, but you don’t necessarily have to pass or even fully complete a test to be considered for a staff position. Just try, and we’ll work with you from there.

On that note, we’re going to start shifting our focus to appeal to a wider range of people – and that includes a heaping pile of SEINEN. So if you like the gritty stuff, we’ve got what you’re lookin’ for. Hopefully. What I’m trying to say is you probably shouldn’t apply if you’re all about butterflies and rainbows, because, uh, that makes us all die inside.

In the meantime, we DO have quite a few different titles almost ready for release, so… look forward to that, I guess?
