Holy shit, this thread will be FILLED with rage.  Like mine.

So yes, I agree, I felt the ending of the manga had far more thought put into it than 15 Dragon Slaves and that spell that Lina vowed never ever to cast again and probably couldn't control, or at least would get bitch slapped for tempting fate again, but no, everyone lived happily ever after.  Except Pokota.  But I don't care about him.

Slayers is super popular but if all the fans felt as let down as....well..... me, I think they might be searching in vain for another.

On the plus side it seems to have attracted some new fans that were still in their Pokemon days back when we first discovered the awesomeness that was Slayers.  And fangirled indecently over Xellos.

Yup, same here. Manga. Anime was not worth watching and I feel like I lost 10 hrs of my life that I'll never, ever get back. 

But . . . I think Lina can control an imperfect Giga Slave with her Talisman but it's still a friggin' cop out solution ala Kamehameha.

Pokota is just a runaway pokemon. He needs to be eaten with A1 sauce.

R-Evolution-R as a whole reminded me too much of season one, so it wasn't as epic as it could have been, which sucks, because they totally made it all seem like this was the very end to the Slayers anime. Xellos comment about Lina and co. being true "Slayers" (Wait. Did that actually happen? I can't recall), the eyecatches in the two final episodes showcasing all of the villains and supporting characters, the insertion, the full-circluationismationiconatronificate.

Er. I don't know. The manga ending seemed to retcon Flagoon in place of the Giga Slave. I guess that's more thought out, and doesn't needlessly risk summoning tLoN.

I was disappointed in the anime too. I guess I should have watched it BEFORE I read thescanlations...as a rule, the book is better 90% of the time. I'm also not sure if I want it to be dubbed. If Funimation or 4kids gets it, they'll ruin it, & if they don't use the voice cast from the original 3 series, it will still be majorly disapointing.

Apparently they managed to get almost all of the original cast back, except for David Moo, or whatever the hell his name was for Xelloss, but he sucked anyway. I hear the new guy is ridiculously good, though. (doesn't mean I'll watch it, though. Laaaaawl.)

1) If it's dubbed, and you don't want to watch it, don't. We're in the age of dual audio tracks on DVDs. Unless it's a kid-kid-kid show, or released on BD, it's almost definitely going to have the original Japanese audio track on there.
2) 4Kids picking up Slayers? Please tell me you weren't serious. That would make absolutely no sense.
3) Funimation ruin it? Teehee. How is it, living back in the 90's? I envy you.

Everytime I hear the dub I grind my teeth.  I've always hated Lisa Ortiz, in every role I've heard her.  It started with Deedlit...*sigh*  She only has two modes: indecently chipper and bitchy.
And David Moo.  Well.  Good. I hate him.
