Summary:
Shinji Ikari attends the NERV Foundation Academy and lives a life of relative normality. One night he encounters Rei Ayanami and Kaworu Nagisa fleeing the scene of a violent explosion and is eventually recruited to assist them and Asuka Sohryuu Langely in fighting the Angels, who have taken on human form, in order to retrieve their cores to support the world tree, Yggdrasil. Should the Yggdrasil die, their world would be thrown into a chaotic state where parallel streams of existence collide, eventually bringing about the destruction of all things.

  6. Wow, I didn’t know that there was another NGE spinoff in the works. After reading it, I found that it was highly enjoyable. For one, Rei isn’t some clumsy genki OOC girl (no offense to those who like her that way, I just don’t) and two, the plot does show real promise.

    Anyways thank you for the wonderful release!
    I’m also looking forward to future releases ^-^

    Aside from basic plot and characters, this is a completely different Evangelion – Alternate universe.

    (Sadamoto’s original Eva is still ongoing, but is plagued with multiple hiatuses.)

    rebmatsu, people who will use your scans and change then into different languages. Anyone can donwload the NGE scans that took hard work. Understand that some people out there give a crap on what you say. Since you dont know them, you can not prosecute legally. Just ask for Turtleparadise credit for any our you work. Futhermore, more people will know who or what turtlparaidse does. Turtleparadise will have a rise in donations, staff, popularity, and loyaty.

    I’d prefer that my translations weren’t readily used to double-translate this work into other languages for the simple reason that certain phrases may be incorrectly interpreted. Please, don’t use my translations to make scanlations from this method unless I specifically email you beforehand.　It’s not that I want to be greedy, I just wouldn’t personally hold much faith in a translation of a translation. I’m all for Datenroku being translated into other languages, as long as the translations are from Japanese into the target language and NOT going through two different channels.

    If your main concern is with acquaintances of yours being able to read it in French, I already gave another group permission to translate it before I’d given it too much thought. Keep an eye on their projects page if you’re interested. ^^

    Accordin to wikipedia, it started release in october last yr, so that is 5 chapters in 3 months. so that sounds like a twice a month release? so we are 6 chapters behind?

    Datenroku is serialized in a monthly publication, not bi-monthly. =3 The May issue came out last week, so we’re up to chapter 8 right now; meaning, we’re only three chapters behind! I’m releasing chapters every two weeks until we get up to chapter eight, so you guys don’t have to suddenly deal with a once-a-month chapter once I run out of material to translate. Kinda prevents culture shock, y’see? =3

    Certainly do. =3 My copy of volume one will arrive in about a week, I think, so that’s about when I plan on re-doing those chapters. (Up until chapter five, I think? Not sure, since I haven’t seen the raws myself.)

    I definitely agree, since it’s my personal opinion that “Apocalypse” is a somewhat trite title. On the other hand, the chapter did strongly suggest that as the main title, what with that online game. (Hey, there’s got to be a reason for introducing something like that. Who knows why, though.)

    Check the translation notes in the credits page. =P Asuka refers to Hikari specifically as “Akari.” At this point I’m unable to confirm if Min changed Hikari’s name or if Asuka’s only using a pet name for her, considering that Asuka is the only person who’s referred to her by any name other than Class Rep.

    On a technical note, she’s probably making a pun on Hikari’s name, as both Hikari and Akari are synonyms meaning “light.”

  185. Official AUs: or how to keep on milking the old cow.

    I didn’t like any Evangelion AUs… until now. This one looks very VERY interesting. I like how they adapted the Evas and Angels to make it look more like a regular shonen plot (hopefully thi is Evangelion and they’ll pull some crazy stuff). The art doesn’t hurt either, although Kaworu doesn’t quite look as Kaworu, but that’s just me.

    In Datenroku’s case, yes. (And “few” my ass, there’s almost 100 pages of material I’d have to work with.)

    Either way, we’ll probably start releasing again once volume 4 comes out, since I’m sick and tired of working with Asuka’s crappy scan quality. Gotta put too much work into too little results. =\

    Nope, it’s still ongoing; we’re just waiting until volume 4′s released (which will probably be in August or September, somewhere around there) to start up again, because Asuka’s (the magazine) print quality is getting really hard to work with, and we want to bring you a QUALITY~ reading experience. xP

    Listen, I don’t think you actually understand that there are a lot of underlying problems with this project, and it’s not just the quality that’s the issue here. Frankly speaking, we’re not just doing this for free; we’re doing this at our own expense and it costs a ton of cash whether we use magazine raws or tank scans. And I’m not saying you have to kiss our asses for it, but we’ve come damn close to dropping it because the story’s turned to balls these past few months. We picked Datenroku up because the art was nice and the story was interesting, but guess what happened? Ming Ming started drawing like a preschooler and the story turned to crap. So when the story’s like that and it can take upwards of ten hours to get the chapters looking decent, yeah, we’re gonna have a hard time getting motivated.

    So you can say you just want your crap ASAP, but we’re trying to do quality work here. I would gladly hand over the reins to any other group that wanted to pick up this project, but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be anyone interested. So please, just wait until the tank scans are out and we don’t have to bust our asses spraying perfume on a pile of shit.

Maybe the reason for a “short” story is that in no means this “novel” can keep the confrontation with the original one… And I’m not talking only about the “deepness” of the story, I mean also the chara design, it’s different from Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s. Too much different, so it doesn’t “feel” evangelion at all… and thus, less audience, less money, less production… Just IMHO tho’…

    No, it’s just on hold at the moment. If we’d dropped it, it would be listed in the dropped section. For now, as we’ve been for a while, we’re still waiting on the release of volume 4 so we can have some really high quality raws to work with. Unfortunately, that release date has been pushed back to late December for unknown reasons, but maybe that means we’ll be getting an extra chapter squeezed in!

    Until then, we’ve got staff working on an HQ release of volume 1 with fixed-up translations and scans, so I hope you look forward to that. =3

  283. I was really late in finding the Manga, and read it all in one sitting. So far I have to say that I am completely in love with it. So very much.

    I especially love the major screen time that Kaworu has since he had such a small amount of it in the actual EVA series.

    The characterization is also completely brilliant, especially Rei and Kaworu, but all that characters are done very well. I read Angelic days and didn’t really agree with the characterization there so this is a very, very welcome change.

    The yaoi fangirl in me is completely loving all the Kaworu and Shinji scenes, and I really hope Kaworu gets an actual happy ending as all the other EVA versions give him such tragic ones.

    Aside from all this rambling, I wanted to thank you so much for scanlating this for everyone. I can’t imagine how much of your free time goes into these projects but please know that it’s greatly, greatly appreciated. A part of me wishes for the next chapters sooner simply to know what is going to happen, but another, bigger part of me knows that by waiting, the eventual rewards will be much greater.

    That’s correct, but as Magus suggested, it will take time for us to purchase the volume, have it delivered, scanned, etc, so the earliest you can expect the new chapters is in the second or third week of January.

    Well, you could try not being a dick about it for starters. We’ve been working on the re release for a while now, but in case you were’t paying attention we have NO ONE ON STAFF WHO WANTS TO WORK ON IT. Even if we don’t like it, the translations have been cleaned and everything for ages, but as usual, we’re short staffed. On top of that, we still haven’t received volume 4 in the mail yet, so hi, totally impossible to do that one either seeing as we don’t even have scans.

    If it was dropped we’d say it instead of keeping it o the projects page.

    Well, it’s a valid question… After the release of 16 we decided to wait for the volume release, because no one on staff had time to edit the scans enough so that they’d be readable- and we were convinced that there would be some adjustments to the final product when the next volume was out, so we waited until then. But it turned out the release date kept getting pushed back, and back, and back, until volume 4 was finally released in Japan in December. The book is now on its way to us!

    On a side note, I never realized that many manga artists treat the magazine runs as “rough drafts” and release the manga volumes with corrected scripts. I know this happens a lot with the manga Skip Beat (in the way that the author apparently overhauls for each volume release), but even recently it happened with another of our projects, Barajou no Kiss, where a character’s title was changed when the volume came out.

    I think we’ve been giving off the impression that we haven’t been working on this at all, when that’s not the case. We just haven’t been able to finalize any of the stuff behind the scenes due to lack of staff.
