Summary:
When Lina Inverse meets the dimwitted swordsman Gourry Gabriev, the two partner up in what should have been a temporary alliance… But when the two find themselves under constant attack by brutal demons out for their blood, they join up with Zelgadiss, a chimera desperately searching for a way to regain his former human body, and Amelia, a spunky princess with a penchant for justice! Join these four unlikely companions as they kick some Mazoku butt, lay the smack-down on bandits and Demon Lords alike, and search for fine cuisine – all in the name of massive collateral damage! I paid absolutely through the nose collecting all the volumes of SEDS when they had only just gone out of print, only to discover that Vol. 8 wasn’t going to exist…which pissed me off so severely that the other 7 volumes have just lain there gathering dust for the past few years. And now you’re giving us a concluuuusion so it’s finally worth my while to read them and thankyou thankyou thankyou!

The story seems really close to the novels, so if you’ve read all that, jumping right in is okay, but scanlating the whole thing… well (ahem) a lot of people seem to want it so far =3

    The first seven volumes were released stateside by a company called CPM Press, and while they’re now out of print, you can still find them easily on amazon.com and other sites. If demand is great enough (and so far it’s shaping out to be), we’re going back and redoing the first seven volumes after completing this eighth one. And to answer your question more directly, I don’t think any group ever scanlated the first 36 chapters.

  25. This is great. I’m glad you guys are picking this up since I own both the original Japanese Version and English version of both Mangas (each up to chapter 7) I’m still looking for the japanese version of Vol. 8 though. (To complete my japanese collection.)

    If you guys happen to know where I can find a copy (I’ve checked ebay… none their.) I’d be most appreciative. ^_^

    It actually left out a couple of important plot points, like the fact that Lina’s magic was sealed and that Gourry was possessed by Raltaak, not Phibrizzo. So it made slightly less sense.

    Yeah, yeah, I know the one you’re talking about! I took a look at that one on your community right around the time when I got my hands on Vol. 8. Personally, I think the dude knew some of the spell names and… that’s about it? Up until that point, I thought fan-made scripts were extinct. =P

I too purchased the other volumes of SEDS when they were released here by CPM, and I was also quite irritated to find that they weren’t going to release the conclusion.   46. Hey, yeah, wow. You guys do stellar work with this whole scanlation thing. I’ve recently re-stoked my craving for Slayers by finishing the last two anime series so now I’m desperately scrambling to get my hands on all of the rest of the content.

    Please do the earlier books! They’ll probably turn out better than the CPM release, anyway!

    This one is the original manga, or the most accurate spin off, I guess… It looks like the artist lost steam around this point because the volume is substantially, uh, less awesome than the earlier ones. This version is closer to the novel’s events for the whole Phibrizzo thing, but it ends at the same place as Next.

    But just to double check, do you remember any of the events of the first volumes?

    I don’t think they were scanlated, but they were released in English by CPM. They’re now defunct, but you can find the volumes if you troll around on Ebay or Amazon.

I’ve been reading the novels, and have seen all of the anime episodes, so please release teh first seven volumes of this manga!! There are other slayers series out there, I know, but this is the only manga that shows Gourry’s and Lina’s relationship! So PLEASE FINISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  70. No, I’ve already read those, I really wanna read this one cause its Gourry’s and Linas first adventures together, and thus, seem vital for info on their relationship.
